It’s a marathon, not a sprint

It’s been difficult to find a good stopping point to send updates about the boys.  The changes have been overwhelming the last three days.  Arthur received blood transfusions, which have temporarily improved his numbers.  He is negative for infection and kidney blood clots, so the cause of the alarming test results are unknown, but for now it’s under control.  He also still has the brain bleed and swelling that hasn’t gotten better or worse.  His blood sugar is way too high so he’s now on insulin.  He also developed fluid in his lungs, which is being treated with medication and an increase in his oxygen supply.  This all sounds horrible, but the doctors and nurses keep telling us it’s normal and Arthur’s actually doing really well.  Cyrus is also doing “really well” having the breathing tube removed once again and back on the smart CPAP.  Neither of the boys is gaining much weight.  Arthur technically is but it’s due to the fluid in his lungs.  In spite of all this, the boys are both doing well according to the medical professionals.  However, because of all this, Laura and I are not doing so well.  We’re both feeling physically and emotionally worn down by the constant alerts and the effort to juggle the various dislocated parts of our lives.  Please pray that the boys stay healthy and start growing. Also that Laura and I can have the stamina to keep up, and joy in spite of the uncertainty and hardship.
