Week Two in the NICU

We're now into the second week since the twins were born. It's been busy with Laura and I averaging about 6hrs per day in the NICU with the boys. We were able to bring the girls in a couple of times as well! It didn't go quite as planned, since Edee couldn't contain her two year old exuberance and actually increased her noise level each time she entered the quiet room the twins are in. It was great getting to spend time with the girls for a couple of days though, and we plan to continue having them stay a couple nights with us each week. Hopefully we can find a good balance to care for all our kids this summer. The boys are in reasonably good health. No big concerns for Cyrus. He continues to get skin to skin snuggle times with mom and now dad too! Arthur may be allowed to do that too starting next week. Fingers crossed! Arthur has improved circulation/heart health, improved feeding rate, and improved respiratory health. Concerns for him are that he has a level 4 brain bleed on one side of his brain, which elevates his risk of neurological problems. He also just lost a significant amount of weight over the last two days. Both of these are simply being monitored right now, so not huge reasons for concern unless they persist into next week. Please pray that these conditions improve and that both boys continue to avoid infection. Also pray for Laura, as her pain levels have significantly increased over last week. We were hoping we were over the worst of it, but apparently not. She's avoiding painkillers to improve her breast pumping for the boys, but we may need to compromise on that for a little while longer.
