Baby A

Baby B

We just got back from the Doctor with ok news. Baby B still does have some fluid and a strong heartbeat. Baby A is doing great, moving around, and revealed himself to be a boy! The risks are still high to both though, especially B. Even if Baby B continues to survive, the cramped quarters could ruin lung and muscle development such that the baby dies shortly after being delivered. However, baby B actually does have some fluid, about 2.15 cm vs 6.5cm of baby A. Our second doctor said that's actually not bad, and most of the lung problems occur with 1cm or less. So good news there. The biggest risk is that infection could happen anytime, and would threaten the lives of all three. Please pray that infection holds off and B's sack refills, or at least that B has enough to move and breath. The plan the doctor gave us was to stay as we are on light duty at home for 7 more weeks, at which time Laura will go to the hospital, where she'll remain on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy. The best scenario is that she can hold out till 38 weeks, which would be late August, about three months into hospitalization. Anything after 28 weeks would be far better than before 28 weeks. This is all going to be really long and really difficult, and could end in tragedy or mixed results, but the chances of saving one or both are high enough to where we both feel like we can handle it, particularly with all the help we're receiving. Please feel free to share this however you see fit. We want to be able to encourage other people as we go through all this, even as we in turn rely on God through other people to sustain our souls.
